Boys and girls of all ages hopped in to the Searcy Public Library Wednesday morning to hear Searcy author Jason A. Marzewski read his new, educational children’s book entitled, “Toad Meets his Forever-Friend.” “I’m grateful for the support of area children, parents, and the library staff,” Marzewski notes. “We had a very nice turn-out for my first reading and book-signing, and we sold just about every book we had.” Marzewski autographed copies of his book, which enthusiastic parents purchased for their children after the reading. In doing so, parents not only invested in a special, entertaining – yet educational – book for their youngsters, they also made a contribution to Searcy Children’s Homes, Inc. “Personal Toad and Chicken stories delight and entertain young readers, yet are intended to help children build and maintain their vocabularies as they discover the meanings of the underlined words that are sprinkled throughout the narrative, which are then clearly defined in ‘Personal Toad and Chicken’s Little Brown Dictionary’ - the ‘book within a book’ - featured at the end of each story,” Marzewski explains. “Additionally, in an effort to help needy children and those who selflessly care for them, my wife and I are donating a percentage from the sale of each and every “Toad Meets His Forever-Friend” book to Searcy Children’s Homes, Inc.,” Marzewski affirms. “Toad Meets His Forever-Friend” is Marzewski’s first published book.
“My parents fostered my love of words,” Marzewski continues. “Before I was in first grade, my mother had read aloud to me most of the Bible, every Hardy Boys book available, The Chronicles of Narnia book series, and many other books. My mom and dad always spoke to me as they would to their peers, using advanced words that helped to build and maintain my vocabulary: They would intentionally use ‘big words’ and then ask me if I knew what each one meant; if I didn’t know a definition, they would take the time to explain the meaning to me in great detail.” “My hope and prayer is that children who hear or read Personal Toad and Chicken stories will fall in love with words the way I have, build their vocabularies, and become better and more successful in life as a result,” Marzewski attests. Marzewski lives in Searcy, Ark., with his wife, Tisha, three dogs, and two cats and owns JAM Designs, his free-lance graphic design and advertising business.
