SUMMARY:Ribbon Cutting Berryhill Park Sensory Walk
DESCRIPTION:First Security Bank and Searcy Parks and Recreation invites\nthe public to a Ribbon Cutting for the new Sensory Walk in Berryhill Park on\nNovember 14th at 11:00a.m. at Moore Ave. Searcy First Security Bank\nemployees and Searcy Parks and Recreation have joined together to create a\nplace in Berryhill Park that could be used by anyone regardless of physical\nability. The sensory equipment makes sounds and/or music and can be accessed\nalong a paved path that is wheelchair accessible. First Security Bank employees in Searcy have raised money for\ncharity each year for over a decade. Many times this meant simply raising money\nand giving a charity a check. This year we wanted to be more hands-on. We\nwanted to fund a project that everyone could see\, feel and touch and could make\na difference in our community. We spoke to Mike Parsons at Searcy Parks and Recreation about our ideas to make a place in Berryhill Park that could be used by anyone regardless of physical ability. We researched different playground equipment and decided a Sensory Walk would fill that description. The sensory equipment makes sounds and/or music and can be accessed along a paved path that is wheelchair accessible. (Mike Parsons can probably describe this a lot better than I can.) Our employees\, led by Fallon Sibley in our IT Department\, raised over $5\,800 to fund the project. They had help from several local businesses\, including Sowell’s Furniture\, Tara & Co. Fine Diamonds\, Leslie Jewelers\, 10 Fitness\, Stu’s Brews and Audio Express. The most rewarding part of this fundraiser is seeing kids of all abilities having fun playing at the park with the new equipment. We appreciate the City of Searcy’s help to make our idea a reality. And we hope to add more equipment to the project again in 2019 to make it bigger and better. First Security’s goal is to Make Better Happen for our customers and community\, and we are proud of our employees for Making Better Happen for kids in Searcy.
