Action Needed for Social Security Beneficiaries with Dependents and Who Do Not File Tax Returns to Receive $500 Per Child Payment. More information here
The Internal Revenue Service have begun coordinating Economic Impact Payments to every eligible American. Relief checks for individual taxpayers under the Coronavirus, Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act have started being deposited in bank accounts here .
As part of a special outreach effort to nonfilers and lower income individuals, they have asked for help from organizations like Chambers and EDOs to communicate important information within their community. Please see the message below and accompanying documents. Please consider sharing this info with other community resource organizations in your area.
IRS OUTREACH
The IRS has strong support from the national, state and local tax communities, general and tax-related media, state and local tax authorities, etc. However, we need to reach beyond our normal contacts to reach many lower income, non-filers, ethnic and homeless communities who might otherwise not step up to provide information that would enable the IRS to generate the payments on their behalf. We need to mobilize these communities in a significant manner, with the full support of the IRS throughout.
Please consider sharing the attached information. By early this week, the IRS will have specific information available about how people can go online to provide information (others could file an informational "zero" return) and, also provide their banking information to receive their Economic Impact Payment quickly by direct deposit. Those not submitting banking information would receive a paper check that would take longer to arrive.
The IRS is updating our website regularly with the most current COVID-19 information. Please visit www.irs.gov/coronavirus for the latest.
