  • Searcy, Arkansas, March 13, 2020 The United States Chamber of Commerce, at its board meeting this week, awarded the Searcy Regional Chamber of Commerce with 4-Star Accreditation for its sound policies, effective organizational procedures, and positive impact on the community.

“Accreditation validates a chamber as having programs that benefit its local economy and positively influence its community,” said Raymond P. Towle, IOM, CAE, U.S. Chamber vice president of Federation Relations and Institute for Organization Management. “We applaud these organizations for advancing the principles of free enterprise.”

Accreditation is the only national program that recognizes chambers for their effective organizational procedures and community involvement. In order to receive Accreditation, a chamber must meet minimum standards in their operations and programs, including areas of governance, government affairs, and technology. This extensive self-review can take 6-9 months to complete.

“We are very happy to receive the 4-Star Accreditation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. This is the fourth time we have been accredited and the first time we have received a 4-Star rating.” said Buck Layne, CEcD, President and CEO of the Searcy Regional Chamber of Commerce. “Only a small number of chambers in the nation can tout an accredited status, and even fewer are accredited at a four-star level. We are honored to be in the top 3 percent of chambers nationwide and one of only seven (7) Accredited Chamber of Commerce in Arkansas.

Our Vice President, Tara Cathey and Public Relations Coordinator, Jenifer Skinner deserve (s) a great deal of the credit as they put in a great deal of time and effort on the project. In order to receive accreditation, the chamber had to demonstrate competency in nine core areas of Governance, Finance, Human Resources, Government Affairs, Program Development, Technology. Communications, Facilities, and Benchmarking.

Local chambers are rated Accredited, 3-Stars, 4-Stars, or 5-Stars. State chambers are recognized as either Accredited State Chamber or Accredited State Chamber with Distinction. The final determination is made by the Accrediting Board, a committee of U.S. Chamber board members.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world’s largest business federation representing the interests of more than 3 million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions, as well as state and local chambers and industry associations.
